BEI Weekly Update — 17th March 2023

Members and Friends,

The week saw the much anticipated publication of the updated Integrated Review. It contains some interesting comments and flags structural  initiatives around  Trade and ID areas relevant  to the membership. These will require further exploration with our contacts in the relevant departments and we will keep you updated. In the meantime, we've written a quick synopsis of the IR's main takeaways for the membership. Read here.

On Thursday, we hosted a deep-dive on opportunities in Uganda with Her Excellency Kate Airey OBE, British High Commissioner to Uganda, and Robert Mukiza, Director General of the Uganda Investment Authority. Alexandra shares key insights from the session here. Following on from the publication of the FCDO’s Strategy for Women and Girls last week, Lara has prepared a blog which analyses key takeaways from the new strategy. Lara also shares details around BEI’s work in this field, which includes a panel discussion on the FCDO’s Girls’ Education Challenge which will take place on 12th April –  ‘Lessons Learnt’.

Warm regards,

Ingrid
