Join British Expertise International on 26th April from 13:30 – 15:30 for an in-person roundtable with Mark Eastwood, the United Kingdom’s Trade Envoy to Pakistan who will speak to the subject of Government-to-Government discussions between the UK and Pakistan on infrastructure, renewables, and education, and will provide members with an update on the current trade dialogue between the two countries.
Pakistan and the United Kingdom have maintained diplomatic relations since Pakistan's independence in 1947. In 2020, the total trade volume between Pakistan and the UK was $2.9 billion, with Pakistan exporting $1.7 billion worth of goods to the UK, while importing $1.2 billion worth of goods from the UK. The UK is a major source of investment for Pakistan; according to the State Bank of Pakistan, the UK was the second-largest source of foreign direct investment in Pakistan in 2020, with a total investment of $247.4 million. The two countries also work closely together on issues such as education, health, and climate change.
Mark Eastwood was elected Member of Parliament for Dewsbury in December 2019. Prior to being elected, Mark was employed as a Regional Sales Manager by Teal Healthcare, part of the Senator International Group, a supplier of furniture and medical equipment to the NHS and other healthcare providers. He is currently serving in government as PPS to the Ministry of Defence and as the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Pakistan.

Attend this closed roundtable to gain valuable insights from Mark on the current trade dialogue between the UK and Pakistan, as well as information on discussions between the two countries on investment opportunities in infrastructure, renewables and education. This will also offer members an excellent opportunity to share their organisations’ business perspectives, including current priorities and experiences in Pakistan, and some of the challenges and market access barriers they have encountered. The session will end with a Q&A between members and the Trade Envoy.
