Showcase: Gender Equity in Action – Launched April 2026

At its heart, the ambition and intent behind gender equity is simple: everyone should benefit from equal protection of rights, political participation, access to basic resources and quality of services.

It seems as though exclusion is built into the fabric of policy and society, and in a deeply turbulent world, women and girls have become disproportionately impacted by crises. It is crucial that we assess how to move closer to an more equitable world for women and girls.

For almost 60 years, it has been at the heart of BEI’s mission to provide a platform for our members to showcase best-practice. We champion the work of our members on improving girls education, gender equality and disability inclusion.

Our programme of activities underpins our commitment to gender equity; we bring together UK organisations who represent best practice through their work across international development, education, climate and infrastructure. We remain committed to ensuring that women sit at the forefront of these conversations.

This ‘showcase’ includes a range of case studies, published in previous BEI reports, on Education (Systems Strengthening), Water Resilience (Unlocking Local and Global Benefit) and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (Beyond Boundaries). While focusing on various issues in different sectors, we have gathered together these specific examples because of their ambition and success in advancing gender equity.
