The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is a member of the World Bank Group, established in 1956 to spur economic development through private sector investment in developing countries. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., IFC provides equity investments, loans, and advisory support to businesses and projects that can drive growth and innovation in emerging markets. It is the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector.
IFC's mission centres on creating a world free of poverty on a liveable planet. The organisation works to promote private investment in sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, education, health, and renewable energy, with an emphasis on projects that deliver social and environmental benefits alongside economic returns. By supporting initiatives that address pressing challenges – such as the climate crisis, economic empowerment and financial inclusion – IFC aims to improve living standards in regions that face substantial barriers to growth.
As part of this hybrid event, attendees will gain insights into building partnerships with the IFC, including guidance on navigating processes and understanding how they engage with the private sector. We will explore IFC’s proactive, early-stage market and project preparation (upstream) work, and IFC’s strategic priorities in key sectors such as agribusiness, education, and Public-Private-Partnerships (PPP's).
This event will serve as an introduction to working with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The session is designed for both new and established partners, offering an annual update on key developments and opportunities.
