Join us during London Climate Action Week for the launch of our latest paper, “Water Risk & Finance: Bridging the Gap”, which explores how the financial community can better understand, price and respond to water-related risks – and unlock new investment opportunities in the process.
Water risk is increasingly recognised as a material financial issue, with impacts spanning supply chains, infrastructure and economic stability. Yet despite the scale of the challenge – and the growing need for investment in water resilience – private capital has historically struggled to engage. Drawing on insights from across industry, finance and policy, this new paper sets out practical pathways for bridging this gap: reframing water risk as a financial imperative, improving the use of data and metrics, and identifying investable opportunities across sectors and geographies.
The paper highlights how evolving approaches – from blended finance and risk-sharing mechanisms, to better disclosure frameworks and advances in data and modelling – are beginning to shift the landscape. It also explores how water can be understood not as a standalone issue, but as a critical, interconnected asset that underpins sectors from energy and agriculture to infrastructure and industry, with relevance both in the UK and globally.
To mark the launch, this event will bring together key contributors to the report for a panel discussion unpacking its findings, sharing practical insights, and reflecting on what comes next for investors and financial institutions navigating water-related risks and opportunities. Join us to hear from leading voices working at the intersection of water, finance and climate resilience, and to explore how we can collectively turn water risk into resilient investment pathways.
