As a result of Climate Change, the water cycle has become disrupted around the globe, and countries find themselves with an increasing need to ensure resilience in water systems for communities and industrial objects. From increased instances of drought, flooding and storm surges, to pollution and sea level rise, we are seeing unprecedented frequency and impact of the water cycle’s disruption directly affecting the most vulnerable.
The UK has a distinctive offer and world-leading expertise in sustainable and climate-resilient water services, but it is not always well understood, organised or communicated. This group, in partnership with UK government, IFIs and other key stakeholders, aims to define that offer and leverage it to increase exports.
This British Expertise International (BEI) working group is open to members exporting services that feed into the value chain and working in across disciplines feeding into supporting Water Resilience internationally. This includes capacity building, design, project management, engineering, technological innovation, as well as financial, legal, standards and regulatory aspects, across themes including resource management, drought management, flood alleviation, nature-based solutions, wastewater treatment, non-revenue water, irrigation, desalination, as well as building social resilience.
The group provides a platform to share expertise and foster collaboration between members, whilst providing the opportunity to engage with stakeholders, showcasing and creating business opportunities by fostering dialogue on opportunities for joint working. It also feeds into BEI’s events programme to ensure it remains business relevant and focused in support of members interests.
BEI Working Group meetings, recordings and slides are only available to working group members.
