Internationally, the UK government has committed to spend £11.6 billion between 2021-22 and 2025-26 to help developing countries adapt and respond to climate change. Having recently launched the UK International Climate Finance Strategy in 2023, the UK continues to showcase its conviction to work cohesively with the international community to mobilise much needed climate finance to developing nations.
The UK has made significant pledges to international climate finance through various channels, including bilateral aid, multilateral funds and initiatives such as the Green Climate Fund. These funds then support projects and programmes aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting renewable energy, enhancing resilience to climate impacts, and supporting sustainable development in vulnerable communities.
Join us during London Climate Action Week for the main event in BEI’s Climate Showcase series, with a special panel event with FCDO, DESNZ and BII. Our speakers will discuss how the UK government is putting finance for climate change mitigation and adaptation at the heart of interventions and policy decisions, and some of the ways in which the UK is innovating to reach its ICF target.
The panel will be followed by a Private View of our special photography exhibition, showcasing BEI members’ work in climate change mitigation and adaptation in LMICs. Through the lens of talented photographers, our exhibition delves into the multifaceted dimensions of climate change and its impact on the society, the built environment and natural landscapes. By showcasing a diverse array of perspectives, the exhibition endeavors to provoke thought, evoke emotion and inspire dialogue. Through visual storytelling, we seek to ignite a sense of responsibility and empowerment.
