With trade between the UK and Australia totalling more than £15 billion in 2018, Australia is set to become an increasingly important international partner for the UK in a post-Covid, post-Brexit world.
Join us, along with representatives from Australian states, for an exciting discussion on the future of UK-Australia trade relations, the insights into some of the key areas of opportunity for UK business in Australia.
This event will give participants a unique insight into Australia’s business landscape from key government stakeholders. In 2019, the UK was the second largest direct investor in Australia, reflecting the significant and growing opportunities for doing business. In the infrastructure sector, for example, the Government of New South Wales alone has dedicated $87.2 billion to invest in infrastructure over four years from 2018, the biggest infrastructure programme in Australia’s history.
The diversity of the Australian economy means that demand is increasing for UK expertise across a number of sectors. Cyber security, for example, is a priority industry in Australia currently worth $2 billion, expected to triple in value by 2026. The UK and Australia also signed the Fintech Bridge agreement in 2019, making it easier for UK companies to access the Australian fintech market.
