Join us on 7th October from 14:00 – 17:00 for an in-depth panel discussion focussed on embedding Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in early years education. Just as we teach children to read and write, it is increasingly recognized that equipping them with the skills to develop empathy, emotional intelligence, and the ability to build inclusive and respectful societies is crucial to their development, and to the good functioning of our society.
Our panellists will be:

The panel will focus on the role of social and emotional learning in early years education from the ages of 0 – 6, exploring the following questions:
· Why is social and emotional learning particularly important for children today?
· What is the impact of getting early years education right for the future of society?
· Why is it important for future leaders to learn about psycho-social wellbeing and justice (environmental stewardship, equality, anti-racism) at an early age?
· How can we reach the most deprived and disaffected families nationwide, and engage parents and carers in SEL?
· What data is still missing to eliminate equality gaps in social and emotional learning across the country?
· How can we formally embed SEL in curriculum at a school-level, given the huge SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs of many learners?
· Do employers have a role in ensuring modern working patterns (hybrid, zero hours contracts,unequal parental leave) do not put children at risk of social and emotional problems?
