Join us on 29th April from 10:30-13:30 for a panel event focussing on disability inclusion in climate mitigation and adaptation. Speakers include representatives from FCDO, IDDC, Mott MacDonald, Africa Albinism Network and CBM Global, who will present insights into the impact of climate change on people with disabilities, case studies on successfully strengthening disability inclusion, and how climate and disability inclusion is central to FCDO’s ongoing strategy.
As the world ramps up its efforts to combat climate change and meet global targets, a powerful opportunity emerges to ensure that no one is left behind. Persons with disabilities are key contributors to building resilient and equitable communities, yet their voices often go unheard in climate change responses, emergency support, mitigation and adaptation policies, practices and programmes. Companies at the forefront of climate action have an unparalleled opportunity to lead the way in championing disability inclusion.
This event aims to examine the intersection of climate change and disability, exploring both the implications of current activities and new commitments from the 2025 Global Disability Summit, and to drive concrete action and engagement towards inclusive climate programming. The event, in collaboration with Impel and CBM UK (Global Disability Inclusion), celebrates the release of a transformative report from the Bond Disability and Development Group harnessing insights and data from climate programmes and research of more than 30 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) (including women-led OPDs), and persons with disabilities. Our panellists will offer actionable insights into disability-inclusive climate programming, and innovative solutions which put equitable outcomes at the forefront of climate action.
