In a time where the effects of climate change, human-made disasters, and recurring crisis are contributing to multifaceted and complex emergencies globally, it is necessary to have an evidenced based and multidimensional understanding of how climate change is intersected by other factors – any may cause or exacerbate them. Global issues such as war, conflict, famine and displacement can be underpinned by climatic factors and it is important to approach remedies to such issues with a multidimensional world view – and one of the key tools to mitigate these impacts is resilience. Join us as we launch 3ie’s latest report, focused on strengthening resilience against these shocks and stresses in L&MICs!
This evidence gap map was created to improve access to research on the effectiveness of interventions to strengthen resilience to shocks and stressors in low-and middle-income countries (L&MICS) for policy makers, researchers and the international development community. The purpose of this is to allow actors to understand which are the interventions most studied in impact evaluations and systemic reviews in this sector. Through this tool, it is easier to identify lessons on what works from existing systematic reviews and clusters of primary studies which might be synthesized in a systematic review.
This Resilience Evidence Gap Map has been created alongside three other EGMs on nutrition, agriculture, and water, sanitation and hygiene, led by 3ie and with support from USAID’s Bureau for Resilience and Food Security, via a partnership with D-Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The map will show which interventions and outcomes, and shocks/stressors, the available effectiveness evidence has focused on so far, thus showing for which areas we know what works, and for which we need additional evidence.
Join us as we host the authors of the report, to launch it and discuss the rationale behind the map, the structure and delve into the implications of the findings.
