Join us for our next in-person Skills Working Group meeting ,which will explore the international mobility of skilled trades people relevant to the green transition. This meeting will bring together members of BEI and the D Group with guest speaker Helen Dempster, Co-Director, Migration and Displacement and Policy Fellow, Center for Global Development.
This session will explore three main themes, with participants encouraged to contribute their own views and experience to the discussion:
1) Standardising skills and qualification requirements
- How can this be achieved across priority sectors?
- What does that look like in practice at the moment, both within the UK and abroad?
2) Accrediting international training providers
- How do you work with stakeholders (e.g. training providers, provincial, and national governments) in identifying priority international markets?
- How do you identify high-performing training providers and accredit them?
- What are the barriers to progress?
3) Identifying priority markets
- Which markets offer the most opportunity, according to data on demographic change; existing skill and education levels; and existing linkages with UK education providers?
- Where and how could UK immigration policy open doors for international green-skilled workers?
- How can international accreditation improve the UK’s soft power abroad?
