

Join us for our monthly online Skills & Training Working Group with guest speaker, Dr. Paryono Paryono, Deputy Director of SEAMEO VOCTECH. Dr Paryono’s presentation will offer an overview of the current TVET context in the ASEAN region, an overview of SEAMEO VOCTECH’s work, and ways of partnering up with VOCTECH.
Dr. Paryono will provide insight into the current TVET context in the ASEAN region (including the 7th Five-year development plan of SEAMEO VOCTECH, currently under development). He will also offer an overview of the work of SEAMEO VOCTECH and how VOCTECH works with providers, touching on areas of potential partnership with private sector players, especially in the Green skills area. Finally, the presentation will explore what VOCTECH is looking for in British education providers, from certifications to standards and micro-credentials, among others.
SEAMEO VOCTECH, established in Brunei Darussalam in 1990, supports SEAMEO-member countries in addressing common issues in technical vocational education and training through professional development, research, consultancy, and information dissemination. Its mission is to assist SEAMEO member states in advancing their TVET systems by providing relevant and effective programmes and services towards the sustainable development of the region.
Dr. Paryono is the Deputy Director for Professional Affairs, as well as Research Manager and TVET Specialist, at the Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Training under the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO VOCTECH) in Brunei Darussalam. He started his career as a TVET teacher before becoming a TVET Associate professor at the State University of Malang and has over 25 years’ experience working in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the region and beyond. He holds a dual-title Ph.D. degree in Workforce Education and Development and Comparative International Education from Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree in Continuing and Vocational Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Education from the State University of Malang in Indonesia.
