With their powerful short film, AZEEMA: Undaunted, as a starting point, Resurgence and a panel of climate experts will explore the role of AI-led innovation and impact in scaling practical, locally rooted solutions that strengthen climate resilience in vulnerable communities in the Global South. Networking drinks will follow the screening and discussion.
AZEEMA: Undaunted follows displaced Sudanese weather forecasters and community leaders as they race to launch an emergency early warning service across conflict-affected Sudan for 48 million people: the DARAJA Sudan Emergency Weather and Early Warning Service.
Over the past decade, Resurgence has pioneered community-centred weather forecasting and early warning partnerships across Africa, the Middle East and Asia through collaborations with the FCDO, the WISER Programme of the UK Met Office, the Lloyd’s Register Foundation and the German Federal Foreign Office, supporting vulnerable communities to prepare for extreme weather events before disaster strikes.
As these climate risks accelerate globally, Resurgence is now launching an ambitious 10x Scale-Up Plan to dramatically expand access to life-saving climate and weather information over the next decade.
Rounding off with a networking drinks reception where guests can continue the discussion and mark the halfway point of London Climate Action Week, this event will underscore the vital role of international collaboration in addressing climate challenges, and highlight how AI-led interventions could help unlock access to trusted, localised climate information on a global scale.
