Join BEI, in partnership with the FCDO and BCDA, on 29th November for an in-person roundtable to meet a senior delegation from the Philippines, representing the New Clark City development. The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is the Philippines government agency mandated to transform and redevelop former military lands into new economic hubs.
The purpose of the roundtable is for the delegation (which includes the President and CEO of the BCDA as well as their Transportation expert and Infrastructure Advisor) to meet with UK organisations and hear about their expertise and experience. Specifically, the roundtable will provide the opportunity to present UK case studies relating to smart cities development, in three key areas – sustainable finance, transport and energy.
New Clark City is a new smart city located just 80km from Manila. New Clark City is projected to accommodate 1.12 million residents, create 925,000 jobs and account for about 4% of GDP.
This visit is being supported by the UK through FCDO’s Global Future Cities (GFC) Programme. Following the successful implementation and completion of the Global Future Cities Programme in New Clark City, FCDO is supporting BCDA’s Investment Promotions and Marketing Department (IPMD) to conduct an investment roadshow and study visit to the UK. The aim of the visit is to promote New Clark City as the country’s flagship “green city” development and investment destination, and to learn about the expertise and innovations available in the UK.
Agenda:
13:00-14:00 networking lunch
14:00-15:30 roundtable discussion
