Supply chains, procurement and movement of goods and people sit at the heart of global business and, increasingly politics. As the world is entering a ‘new normal’ with the imminent roll-out of Covid-19 vaccination programmes, understanding UK and global trends in the reopening of borders and the associated physical and regulatory infrastructure required to moved good and services around the world has rarely been so important for Exporters.
The UK government continues working with their international partners to support the global recovery, and we are pleased to be joined by Andrew Mitchell CMG, Director General, Markets & Supply Chains at the Department for International Trade and Alan Carter, Assistant Director, International Relations and Capacity Building Team at HMRC, to discuss the role their departments play in supporting their stakeholders and partners to enable better trading practices, continue to protect supply chains and make general free movement more efficient. The discussion will also take in how Covid-19 has affected the excise tax landscape - and elaborate on how the pandemic now means these solutions are more important than ever.
UK organisations can offer a range of exceptional solutions directly to governments to help get trade moving, facilitate market access, increase tax revenue, eliminate illicit trade & excise tax losses, and ultimately support the joined up economy – and two of our member organisations, De La Rue and Intertek, will join the panel to discuss some of their case studies and share best practice in this area.
This event will appeal to international diplomats, trade facilitators and policy makers, as the chaired discussion will aim explore the latest solutions and approaches that the UK provides in these areas. The second half of the session will be conducted as a chaired Q&A, and we would be delighted to receive your questions in advance: mg@britishexpertise.org. The event will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule.
