Peru is the fourth most populated country in South America, with a population of 33 million. It is in need of further infrastructure development, building on the Peru Reconstruction programme developed under a Government-to-Government (G2G) agreement between Peru and the UK, which is rebuilding critical national infrastructure that was severely damaged during the El Niño phenomenon of 2017.
Some of the greatest infrastructure development needs are across the water and hygiene, transport and energy sectors. For instance, some notable gaps in access to WASH services include:
In order to close these gaps and provide all Peruvians with universal, sustainable and quality access to sanitation services by 2030, Peru’s government has approved the National Sanitation Policy. The National Sanitation Plan 2022-2026 is the main instrument for implementing the policy, and there is a broad range of projects under the plan being promoted.
We are pleased to welcome Peru’s promotion agency, ProInversión, who will provide an overview of the current infrastructure pipeline including projects in energy, highways and water treatment plans. ProInversión is a specialized technical agency, attached to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, with legal status under public law, technical, functional, administrative, economic and financial autonomy.
Our panel will discuss some of the main considerations for doing business in Peru, and provide an overview of ProInversión’s Procurement portal and guidelines and a presentation of current opportunities portfolio – including selected projects across Water, Transport and Energy. In addition, the ProInversión team will cover current Consultancy opportunities.
