Join us for a panel discussion on Operating in Complex Environments. This event will explore the challenges encountered when working in complex markets, covering safety, risk management, team management and project delivery. Speakers from Eagle Scientific, Prevail Partners and International Rescue Committee (IRC) will offer insights, lessons learnt and practical solutions to current challenges.
‘Complex environments’ result from a range of overlapping factors, including war, political instability, economic crises, natural disasters and climate emergencies. Our panelists will lead the discussion on best practice when working in these environments.
David Landsman will share insights from working as British Ambassador to Greece during the debt crisis. David will discuss the internal functioning of an organisation delivering work in a complex environment, exploring the internal dynamics of managing and deploying a team whilst balancing a wide range of challenges all moving at different speeds.
Eagle Scientific will present case studies on lessons learnt from operations which came close to failure. The focus will be on challenges, steps taken to salvage the situation and flexible approaches taken.
Prevail Partners will outline methods used to support organisations operating in high-physical threat environments, with examples from Ukraine and Africa. They will focus on intelligence threat reporting and intelligence informed operating activity.
IRC will explore specific operational practices including averting aid diversion risks, aspects of their safety and security approach and working to calibrate risk thresholds when expanding programming to hard-to-reach areas of countries. They will share experience of recent projects delivered in Afghanistan and Yemen.
