Coinciding with London Climate Action Week 2024, we are delighted to present a series of events alongside a photography exhibition, showcasing BEI members’ thought leadership and projects in climate change mitigation and adaptation in LMICs.
According to the United Nations, developing countries require nearly US $6 trillion by 2030 to implement their plans to cut emissions and adapt to climate impacts. Left most vulnerable to the impact of climate change, these countries cannot meet this need without private sector investment.
An urgent step-change in private investment for sustainable development in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs) is needed and is spurring increasing calls for DFIs and MDBs to implement reforms that can boost private capital mobilisation.
Implementing these reforms will require innovative financing mechanisms, including unlocking the potential of public and private markets to mobilise the vast amounts of capital they mediate toward sustainable development. Realising this potential will require partnerships between the development, investment, and government communities.
Join Chemonics, as it hosts the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office’s (FCDO) MOBILIST Programme and USAID’s Climate Finance for Development Accelerator (CFDA) to discuss public markets, the importance of partnerships, and other innovative solutions to mobilising private investment toward addressing climate change.
