Join us online on Tuesday 7th March as we host a Market Opportunity Overview on Nepal in partnership with the British Embassy.
The UK remains one of the most significant providers of development assistance to Nepal. Since the 200th anniversary of bilateral cooperation between the UK and Nepal in 2016, despite Covid set-backs, the embassy has been strengthening this partnership. Areas of cooperation include security, economic development, service delivery, governance, disaster response, climate change and health, with new ODA programming in the pipeline in these areas.
Opportunities for British expertise are live in the renewable energy and resilient infrastructure sectors. There are opportunities in the education and skills sector too as here lies a strong relationship with the UK, with the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Girls’ Education having previously visited to ensure the UK is on track to support the government of Nepal with improving educational outcomes for women and girls. FCDO programmes will also focus on these areas in the years ahead.
From 2021 to 2022, trade between the UK and Nepal increased by 37.8%, with that growth projected to increase again this year. Over the last five years, ease of doing business in Nepal has steadily been on an upward trajectory, as it becomes a more attractive and stable market for UK businesses to operate within.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the development and commercial opportunities as we are joined by the British Ambassador, Development Director and DIT Country Director for Nepal.
