Join us for an in-depth discussion with Dean Macpherson, Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure in South Africa, and senior officials from Infrastructure South Africa and Gauteng province.
Driven by public sector reform and a strategy to optimise state assets, mobilise blended finance and strengthen governance, South Africa offers diverse infrastructure opportunities across transport, energy, water, telecoms and urban renewal.
UK organisations are well-placed to benefit – UK-South Africa trade rose 7.4% to £11.4 billion in the year to Q4 2024, and a UK-South Africa G2G Infrastructure Partnership was established in July 2025 to help fast-track high-impact projects and position UK firms for success.
Building on last month’s engagement with DBT and Infrastructure South Africa, which outlined current priorities and successes in bilateral cooperation, this event offers insights into South Africa’s infrastructure landscape and a chance to connect with key stakeholders.
Dean Macpherson, a Democratic Alliance MP, was appointed Minister in July 2024 having previously served as a councillor and as Shadow Minister for Trade and Industry. The Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure oversees public infrastructure, manages government properties and promotes job creation.
Infrastructure South Africa are responsible for national strategy, planning and delivery, acting as the single point of entry for investment.
Gauteng province’s infrastructure pipeline includes major transport and urban renewal projects, including the £5 billion Gautrain expansion to Soweto, Mamelodi, and Lanseria, and a £130 million upgrade of Lanseria International Airport.
