Pakistan has important strategic endowments and development potential. The increasing proportion of Pakistan’s youth provides the country with a potential demographic dividend and a challenge to provide adequate services and employment.
Pakistan is experiencing severe economic challenges reflecting long-standing structural weaknesses. It has also been impacted by the recent devastating floods. These have impacted every facet of Pakistan – from the national infrastructure to the impact on agriculture and food production and challenges within the education system.
Dalgleish joined the Department of Social Security in 1998. He went on to join the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the United Kingdom Representation to the European Union, where he worked until 2008. He served as the deputy head of mission at the British Embassy Seoul from 2011 to 2015. He became the Ambassador to Croatia in July 2016[
In 2022, Dalgleish was appointed as deputy British High Commissioner to Pakistan and was appointed acting High Commissioner.
