As part of the Lord Mayor’s Coffee Colloquies series, British Expertise International and The D Group are pleased to present a special session exploring the UK’s role in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
The event will take place at the Mansion House on Thursday 25th April at 08:45 for 09:15-10:30 followed by networking until 11:15. Our panel will discuss how the UK, by working in partnership, is contributing to SDG 9’s goals in the UK and globally.
The Lord Mayor's Coffee Colloquies are an initiative of the current Lord Mayor, Michael Mainelli. They are a series of in-person events held at Mansion House promoting connections that help address the leading issues of the day. The 2023-24 Mayoral Theme “Connect to Prosper” celebrates our multiple knowledge miles, showing that the UK is a place where problems come to be solved. The Coffee Colloquies will provide ample evidence for this theme, bringing together varied voices from in and around the City to talk about how their work supports the achievement of one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Through fast-paced transfer of knowledge and with a focus on connections and networking, the Coffee Colloquies will invigorate our knowledge miles as “the World’s Coffee House”. The objective is to propose, highlight or challenge an approach to meeting the aims of the 17 UN SDGs.
The City of London is internationally recognised as a centre of excellence in planning, financing and delivering on the targets of the UN SDGs. The UK’s private and public sector are aligned on sustainable development, and the UK’s expertise in industry, innovation and infrastructure development are recognised internationally. Only through collaboration will the SDGs be delivered on, and the UK plays an important role through bringing together all aspects of achieving these goals. On SDG 9, BEI and D Group members have particular expertise to share which will support and complement the City of London’s core competences.
