As the international community vies with the challenges and threats posed to society by the climate crisis, there is a growing demand for inclusive climate action which addresses the disproportionate impact of the climate crisis on vulnerable or marginalised groups. Underrepresented or excluded social groups more often than not suffer the brunt of climate change, which deepens pre-existing social inequalities and challenges.
To create truly inclusive climate action – or programmes –requires a wide range of stakeholders are included and inclusive approaches help to create equal impacts, tailored to the needs of those who are most disproportionately affected.
We are delighted to have a panel including speakers from Options, Palladium, Social Development Direct and Sightsavers to speak about how their organisations are making climate change programming more inclusive. They will share insights from various projects, programmes and frameworks relating to biodiversity, health, disability and how they’re making a positive change in these areas.
Rebekah Martin from Social Development Direct will be speaking to us about the research and evidence they have conducted on disability on regional and global challenges. We will then have Mario Haaf showcase Sightsavers’ ambition to work at the intersection of disability inclusion and climate change across their portfolio and show the potential for climate change programming to become more inclusive.
Next on the panel we will have Emma Davies from Palladium, speaking about their efforts to include farmers of every size and their communities through Revere; - a finance facility which aims to restore nature for the long-term and create livelihood opportunities for communities across the diverse working landscapes of the UK’s National Parks. To close off the session, Options will be represented by Olga De Biaggio, who will showcase the tools they have curated to make their interventions more inclusive around gender related health issues.
Join us for this session as we learn about the amazing work being performed by UK based companies who are paving the way for change and a more equitable future.
