Join us for lunch with Mike Short, the Chief Scientific Advisor of the Department for International Trade. Mike was the president of the Institution of Engineering and Technology from 2011, 2012, former chairman of the GSM Association and of the UK Mobile Data Association. Prior to his role as CEA,Mike spent 17 years as the Vice President of Telefonica, the parent company of the 02 mobile network. During his time at in Telefonica, he oversaw the launch of the 2G and 3G Mobile technologies across the UK.
Mike Short will be speaking to us about how science can help promote UK Trade, and on technology trends businesses can expect in the future. The universities of Surrey, Coventry, Leeds and Salford all welcome him as a visiting professor and in 2012 he was honoured with a CBE for his contributions to the mobile technology industry.
