This event will bring together a panel of experts on Education in South East Asia, to discuss leveraging the further education and skills agenda in the region. The panel will explore the importance of TVET and Higher Education in enhancing innovation and economic impact in South East Asia, as well as the role of international education and the wider benefits to local and global communities.
The region of South East Asia has a wide range of opportunities that could provide export growth and partnership opportunities for UK suppliers in a number of dynamic markets. We will hear from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Hanafi Ahmad Damanhuri, Minister of Education, Malaysian High Commission in London and from Dao Thi Hong, First Secretary, Education Section, Embassy of Viet Nam in London on upcoming priorities for the next few years, and key areas for British expertise. Speakers Cecilia Pereira-Yates, Director - External Relations at Acumen, and Ed Dixon, Senior Director Business Development at TMF Group will provide insights into their work in South East Asia and how they support organisations in internationalisation.
For the Malaysian government, priorities include enhancing the quality of the domestic higher education system, upgrading the infrastructure of education institutions and revamping the TVET system. In Viet Nam, the government continues to prioritise educational reform, investing heavily in infrastructure and resources. There is a strong focus on improving disparities between urban and rural areas, digital transformation of the education system, skills development in line with industry needs and higher education (particularly English programmes and international partnerships). The discussion will explore the benefits of Transnational Education partnerships in TVET and Higher Education and the lifetime value which international students bring both to the UK and to their home countries.
Acumen, part of SannamS4, provides valuable market insights, guidance, and internationalisation to their clients. Their global education services extend across Asia and beyond, aiming to provide organisational leaders with guidance and expertise which they can trust, throughout their internationalisation journey.
TMF Group provides employee, financial and legal administration so that firms can invest and operate safely around the world. They operate in 125 offices across 87 jurisdictions, and will provide insights into key considerations on setting up locally, where that is a requirement.
