We are delighted to be joined by the British Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, His Excellency Charles Garrett OBE, and an expert panel for an update on Kyrgyzstan, following local council elections and a vote on constitutional changes on 11th April 2021.
British Expertise International members will be aware that the country has recently undergone a leadership change, with the election of Sadyr Japarov as President, and with reform now ongoing in government and the civil service. This event will provide an opportunity to get an update on the government’s latest thinking, and our panel will help us navigate what some of the recent changes mean for international business and investment climate.
Kyrgyzstan is an early transition country with significant investment needs in professional services, information technology, renewable energy, education, infrastructure, tourism, mining and agribusiness sectors. According to the World Bank, in order for the Kyrgyz economy to continue growing, economic activities need to be diversified through private sector development and improved occupational skills and productivity. The country is a regional success story in terms of IT sector development; it is also rich in natural resources, including minerals, forests, and arable land, with investment opportunities in expanding the agriculture sector and hydroelectricity production.
This webinar is an opportunity for British exporters and investors to meet a range of influential stakeholders, including the British Ambassador, to learn about current opportunities around their sectors of interest.
