Zanzibar, a semi-autonomous archipelago within the United Republic of Tanzania, offers British organisations attractive investment and consultancy opportunities. With its strategic location as a gateway to East African and international trade positions, it as a growing hub for tourism, renewable energy, and the blue economy. Supported by investor-friendly policies that include incentives for foreign ownership and sustainable development, Zanzibar combines economic potential with stability, making it a compelling destination for UK organisations to do business.
Zanzibar offers investment opportunities across sectors including energy, infrastructure, and the blue economy. With expanding sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and transportation driving energy demand, the government is prioritising both renewable and non-renewable energy solutions, creating potential for projects in solar, wind, and bioenergy. The blue economy focuses on sustainable development of maritime resources, leveraging an 880km coastline and rich biodiversity to foster inclusive growth and strengthen the fishing industry. Private sector involvement in infrastructure development opens avenues for enhanced funding, efficiency, and innovation, solidifying Zanzibar as a competitive investment destination.
UK organisations are well placed to support Zanzibar in these initiatives, and this in-person event will provide a platform for the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA) and a range of Tanzania/Zanzibar-based investors to meet with key organisations in the UK, showcase opportunities – as well as the support available from ZIPA and the UK Department of Business and Trade (DBT) – and facilitate partnership discussions with UK private sector organisations.
