Lord Deben is recognised as one of the leading voices on climate action, having championed environmental and climate related causes for over three decades. Today, Lord Deben chairs the Independent Committee on Climate Change which advises the government on emissions targets, reports on the progress made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for and adapting to the impacts of climate change.
As the global economy begins to adapt to the impact of climate change, building resilience and sustainability into businesses is becoming a critical next step in preparing for the future. As shown by the Covid-19 pandemic, businesses of all sizes are increasingly vulnerable to external shocks and unforeseen disruptions. Lord Deben will provide members with his views on the essential changes that businesses need to undertake in order to make growth more sustainable.
With almost 15% (900,000) of UK businesses at risk of closing due to the Covid-19 pandemic, building back better must include incorporating resilience into the foundations of our businesses as we prepare for the increasing uncertainty of the decades ahead. This requires the business world and BEI members to take a forward looking and proactive approach to further incorporating resilience into the framework of our organisations as we enter a green and sustainable post-Covid recovery.
Join us and Lord Deben to discuss how this can be achieved, the upcoming environmental challenges for UK businesses and have the chance to put your questions across.
