The last two years of the global pandemic have demonstrated the fragility of the global health system. It has also shone a light on the quality of the UK’s healthcare innovation. UK-based scientists and organisations have been at the forefront of the fight back against the crippling personal, health and economic impact of Covid-19.
The UK’s contribution to global health stretches way beyond Covid-19; our reputation is second to none, and the sector represents a significant opportunity for global growth. In this event we will hear first hand from the Department for International Trade’s team responsible for supporting this vibrant sector. They will highlight their overall strategy and detail some of the key opportunity areas they see in the future.
We are delighted to be joined by Dr Aphrodite Spanou, Director for Healthcare, Life Sciences and Chemicals at DIT, who will provide an overview of the department’s priorities as well as colleagues who will cover specific subsectors. Rahul Agarwal, Deputy Head Healthcare & Life Sciences will speak to priorities and opportunities in Health Systems Consultancy; David Sheppard, Deputy Head Healthcare, will discuss Healthcare Infrastructure (including Education & Training); Madhukar Bose, Deputy Head Healthcare will speak to Digital Health. As usual we will dedicate the second half of the session to Q&A and discussion with members.
