Join us as we host Ruth Lawson, the Development Director in Sudan for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and Kevin McGrath, Commercial Lead for the FCDO, who will present FCDO’s development strategy, programming and pipeline of opportunities in Sudan.
Although the situation in Sudan remains extremely challenging, the FCDO is continuing to pursue all diplomatic avenues to end the violence and de-escalate tensions. FCDO works extensively in supporting the Government of Sudan’s efforts to implement the Juba Peace Agreement and work towards an inclusive peace for all the people affected by conflict in Sudan.
Priorities on the ground are the provision of life-saving humanitarian assistance, increasing the resilience of vulnerable communities, and working towards a viable future through long-term assistance and development. From an economic perspective, these priorities are in line with the Government of Sudan’s economic programme, which aims to lay the foundations for economic stability and prosperity in the country. FCDO continues to support better environmental management and climate resilience in Sudan, whilst promoting inclusion and gender equality, in line with the development strategy.
