The BEI Education Working Group is delighted to host a closed roundtable meeting with Alicia Herbert OBE, Director of the Education, Gender and Equality Directorate (EdGE) at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
Having joined the FCDO (then DFID) in 1999, Alicia Herbert has amassed over 20 years’ experience in the international development sector and has worked across multiple roles. In addition to leading the EdGE, Alicia is also the FCDO’s Special Envoy for Gender Equality and Head of Abercrombie House.
As education systems around the globe rebuild and evolve as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the BEI Education Working Group continues its series of senior-level engagements with key stakeholders to enable dialogue supporting recovery from the Learning Loss crisis.
As part of this roundtable, BEI members hope to get Alicia’s readout on important topics, such as the new structures and ways of working at FCDO and the role of Ambassadors in future education programming. Members also hope to explore how they can promote foundational learning and evidence-based programming with the FCDO, and support the realisation of the SDGs and broader FCDO goals.
This is a closed meeting only for members of the BEI Education Working Group. To find out more, please reach out to the group’s co-chair, Alexandra Barnes.
