Join us for a special meeting of the Education Working Group to discuss how the UK education sector can respond to recent shocks to the global education system. Funding cuts by major donors such as USAID and FCDO, alongside a broader deprioritisation of education programming in international development, have drastically reshaped the global education landscape. The sector is now facing significant challenges, requiring a reassessment of strategies and solutions to ensure continued progress. We will consult with attending members on the best possible outcomes from this discussion, which could include a one-pager to share with key stakeholders ahead of a seminar in the autumn.
The International education sector in the UK includes a broad range of actors, from larger companies with broad experience and expertise to smaller organisations with niche expertise. BEI’s education members work across all areas of education including K12 services, Direct-to-Government education reform, Higher Education, Edtech and Skills and Training.
The UK is well known for its expertise in education consultancy services: in much of the world “British education” is synonymous with quality. This group enables better collaborative engagement between members, HMG and other key stakeholders. The Education Working Group was initially setup against a backdrop of a global health pandemic in 2020 and faced with the challenge of responding to the COVID-19 crisis’ devastating impact on education and lost learning for students around the world.
BEI Working Group meetings, recordings and slides are only available to working group members. If you are interested in joining this Working Group, please contact Amalie Coleman at ac@britishexpertise.org.
