We are pleased to welcome Andrew Palmer (Director of Global Affairs) and Toby Bateman (Global Affairs Advisor) to present on the UK’s development finance institution, British International Investment (BII), its new 2022-2026 strategy and its role as part of the UK Government’s international financing offer.
As of 4th April 2022, BII is the new name of the former CDC Group plc – and while there is a new brand, the organisation will continue to build on its legacy of investing for impact as well as playing a key role in fighting the climate emergency. BII’s CEO, Nick O’Donohoe, recently shared his thoughts on the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the company’s 70+ year history.
Our speakers will provide an overview of the recently released 2022-2026 strategy, entitled “Productive, Sustainable and Inclusive Investment”, which sets out how British International Investment is becoming a central part of the UK’s offer to help developing and emerging countries meet their significant financing needs for infrastructure and enterprise. The strategy sets outs three strategic objectives that respond to the opportunities and challenges BII sees in the countries it serves. These focus on Productive development – by raising the productivity of an economy so that it can support a decent standard of living for all; Sustainable development – helping transform the economy to reduce emissions, protect the environment and adapt to the changing climate; and Inclusive development –sharing the benefits of higher productivity and greater sustainability with poor and marginalised sections of society.
