Join us for this event to launch the second edition of our GESI Report, updated with case studies from new BEI members and a new section of the report which highlights the importance of localisation. A panel discussion will follow, at which BEI members will discuss recent innovative approaches they have taken to localisation.
We are delighted to be able to launch the second version of our BEI GESI Report at this event. First launched in 2023, the GESI report, The Role of UK-Based Organisations in Advancing Global Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, showcases the capabilities of BEI members in delivering GESI projects internationally. It aims to highlight the importance of mainstreaming GESI across the thematics of climate change, humanitarian, economic empowerment, education, and healthcare. The second edition will include additional case studies from new BEI members.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, shifting operating models pushed international aid organisations to rely more heavily on local partners. This shift triggered more earnest conversations about locally led development, with major donors increasingly also making efforts to redress the power imbalance of traditional development approaches. FCDO has repeatedly emphasised the need for long-term reliable and equitable relationships in International Development, and British organisations’ expertise in this will play a crucial role in defining the UK’s offer in this space.
Cadmus International UK is an international economic and analytics consulting firm that works with government and commercial clients around the globe to deliver practical solutions and achieve lasting results. Invest Salone is a UK-government-funded private sector development programme managed by Cadmus. It aims to increase incomes and jobs for thousands of Sierra Leonean women and men by boosting investments and exports.
World Vision is a Christian charity which helps children - of all faiths and none. They partner with communities for an average of 15 years on their long-term programmes and their local staff work within these communities to identify both issues and solutions collaboratively. World Vision will share examples of locally led development done well on international projects, including novel approaches taken, for example working with faith leaders and other untraditional partners on the ground.
Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian and development organisation dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern Worldwide will present findings from their recent localisation research and will share their experience of localisation efforts within USAID projects.
