Join British Expertise International for a deep dive on Opportunities in the Water Sector in Egypt. We will hear from George Yunan from the Department of Business and Trade and from Mohamed Saad from UK Export Finance.
Egypt is a key market for UK businesses and investors, underpinned by years of good relations and a commitment by both parties for mutually beneficial investment opportunities. Under Egypt’s COP27 presidency, UK companies have been making significant investments in the Egyptian sustainability sectors, and the water sector is no different.
Egypt’s water sector is witnessing a mass of new developments with new mega projects – the new Suez Canal, urban communities, smart cities such as the new administrative capital, and new housing projects currently being planned, providing huge opportunities for UK organisations.
The Egyptian government envisions new sources of water – to lessen pressure on the Nile – alongside investment in desalination, wastewater treatment, industrial water treatment, reuse of agricultural irrigated water and new programmes to raise awareness on water saving techniques for the population. Demonstrating their commitment to this vision, the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation has announced the National Water Plan (2017-2037), as well as the 2050 National Water Resources Development and Management Strategy, which will aim to improve water quality, rationalise water use, develop water resources and help craft a more sustainable future.
Attend this session to gain valuable insights into the future direction of the UK’s relationship with Egypt and the priorities for collaboration in the water sector. This will also provide an excellent opportunity to share your organisations’ experiences and challenges in this market.
