Join us for an evening of thought-provoking conversation, potential new partnerships and the chance to meet with members of our Climate Change Working Group. As usual in this series, we will be welcoming one of our members to deliver the keynote speech. The event is also open to non-members, and BEI members are encouraged to invite their partners and collaborators!
Our keynote speaker this time is Kate Hargreaves, DAI’s new Director for Climate and Environment. Kate Hargreaves’ 20-year career spans social accountability and transparency, public financial management, and global health. Her recent focus has been on climate change and renewable energy. Kate is passionate about accelerating just transitions to green economic growth, which includes promoting the role of women in solar energy, localising development by incorporating citizen voice and demand and building community resilience to climate shocks.
She has worked for numerous agencies and organisations, including Transparency International, KPMG Consulting, Crown Agents, the World Bank, the U.K. Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, Oxfam, the British Council, The Gates Foundation, and the French Development Agency, and has led multimillion-dollar programs across South Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and Palestine.
As a project director and practice lead, Kate has concentrated on delivering systems change for sustainability. Kate’s work reflects a holistic approach to tackling the climate crisis, combining technological innovation, financial strategy, community involvement, and social equity.
Kate will reflect on her career, her views on the drivers and solutions to the climate crisis, and her hopes for the future.
