Economic Growth will be key to the UK’s future. Key to unleashing this growth will be an effective programme to ensure that the UK, its nations and regions can ensure it is developing the right skills in the right place and at the right time in support of the growth imperative.
This work shop will explore, with members, the optimal approach to help ensure a National Industrial Strategy is linked to a regional and local model and pipeline of effective skills development.
This session aims to lay the groundwork for the writing of a paper to summarise and frame an approach to the UK Skills Gap that sees a National Strategy delivered effectively through regional and local actions.
The workshop will provide opportunity for members of D Group and BEI working in the UK Skills Sector to debate, discuss and agree key points for the ensuing report. Members will be asked to input specific, brief examples of innovative solutions to the Skills Gap in their areas of expertise. We aim to release the report in Autumn and to share it with key stakeholders from Government, Civil Service and Mayoral Combined Authorities. The report would also enable the writing of a longer paper in the future, to include examples of best practice in this area.
