British International Investment (BII) will showcase their Climate Change Strategy and explore how their current and future activities and portfolios are aligning with goals of the Paris Agreement, based on the building blocks of net zero, just transition and climate adaptation and resilience.
BII is the UK’s development finance institution and impact investor with a mission to help solve the biggest global development challenges by investing patient, flexible capital to support private sector growth and innovation. Through their investments, BII aims to create more productive, sustainable and inclusive economies in Africa, parts of Asia and the Caribbean, enabling people to build better lives for themselves and their communities.
BII invests in green infrastructure, technology and other impactful sectors that need capital the most. A proven key partner to emerging economies, BII lends its support to those most vulnerable to the climate emergency and provides support for clean, inclusive and resilient growth in the markets where it operates. Over the next five years, at least 30 per cent of their total new commitments by value will be in climate finance, making BII one of the leading investors within this space in Africa.
We will be joined by Amal-Lee Amin, Managing Director and Head of Climate, Diversity and Advisory, who plays a pivotal role in overseeing the Climate Change team, alongside BII’s other thematic priority, gender & diversity, including through BII’s advisory and technical assistance facility. She also supports and promotes BII’s priorities within this area internally and externally.
We will also be joined by Nicola Mustetea, BII’s Director and Head of Climate Change. Nicole joined the team in 2019 and has since been driving, alongside Amal-Lee, the development and implementation of BII’s Climate Change Strategy across the investment groups as well as leading specifically on its net zero transition strategy. In this role, she works closely with investment teams to deploy more climate finance in emerging markets and ensure investments are aligned with the Paris Agreement.
Join us for this session as we delve into BII’s Climate Change Strategy and the implications and opportunities it holds for UK organisations.
