Join us on 25th January 2022 for a discussion with Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Armenia, HE John Gallagher, who was appointed to the position in March 2021. The Ambassador will be joined on the panel by his Embassy team, providing a socio-political update on the market, an overview of doing business in Armenia and the associated barriers and risks, and highlighting specific areas of opportunity for UK plc.
The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic & the recent economic contraction stands in stark contrast to the development seen between 2017 and 2019. To support recovery, the Armenian government has recently updated its reform programme, and we look forward to hearing the Ambassador’s views on the associated opportunities.
A number of international partners are also making a real difference to support the country’s recovery and development. There are several HMG-funded programmes currently active in Armenia, including support focusing on sustainability and capacity building. The Foreign, Commonwealth &Development Office (FCDO) funds the British Council in Armenia, which can be helpful to British education organisations entering the market; and there are active FCDO programmes under the Good Governance Fund. A range of other bilateral and multilateral funders are active in Armenia, including the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Meet the British Ambassador and his team, alongside the British Council country director, to learn about current opportunities in this market, better understand the operational context, and explore potential barriers to entry.
