Over 2000 UK companies including BAE, Unilever (UK) and Vodafone are now conducting business in Turkey. Supported by effective economic governance and macroeconomic stability, Turkey has rapidly developed into one of the most investment-friendly countries in Europe.
This event will take a deep-dive into the economic and political situation in Turkey. An expert panel will explore the challenges, opportunities and likely future trends for UK companies doing business with Turkey.
The Turkish government has made clear that it wishes to see its prosperous economic relationship with Britain continue after the UK leaves the EU. In January 2017, the UK government announced a £100 million deal to support the development of fighter jets for the Turkish air force. Turkey exported £10.6 billion in goods and services to the UK in 2018, making the UK Turkey’s second most important export market after Germany.
Turkey also occupies a highly complex geopolitical environment. Relationships with Russia, the EU and the US are all critical in determining the country’s continued economic prosperity. This event will provide country-specific insights into Turkey’s political landscape to allow UK companies to do business in the region effectively.
