Minister of Investment of Jordan, H.E. Tareq Abughazaleh and UK industry leaders meet for talks on trade and investment opportunities

London, United Kingdom, 4th June 2026 – Minister of Investment of Jordan, H.E. Tareq Abughazaleh, meets with UK industry leaders for a high-level discussion around UK-Jordan partnership opportunities.

British Expertise International and the D Group hosted the Jordanian Minister of Investment, H.E. Tareq Abughazaleh, in Westminster to discuss how British businesses can leverage economic and commercial collaboration between the UK and Jordan. Jordanian Ambassador to the UK, H.E. Manar Dabbas, was also present at the discussion. The talks included UK industry stakeholders from BEI and the D Group’s membership base with expertise in infrastructure, manufacturing, logistics and energy development.

Jordan and the UK maintain a strong relationship as long-time allies, with Jordan acting as a stabilising force in the Middle-East despite acute security, economic and political pressures. The UK-Jordan Trade Agreement, which came into effect in 2021, secured continued preferential trade for British and Jordanian businesses and consumers and sets the scene for UK organisations to work in the region. Against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the roundtable explored Jordan’s strategic position that UK organisations can leverage amid geopolitical turbulence in the region.

The aim of the discussions was to explore how UK-Jordan private-sector investment can promote mutually beneficial business-to-business links in the region. With opportunities in transport, water and Jordan’s new city Umra, Jordanians and Jordanian companies can be a route for UK companies into the Gulf, Iraq and Syria.

Dr. David Landsman OBE, Executive Chair of BEI and Advisory Director of the D Group, said, “At British Expertise International and the D Group, we work every day with consultants and experts who have a great deal to contribute across areas from climate, energy and education to space, infrastructure and logistics. That’s why this week’s session was an exceptional opportunity to explore the potential for private-sector collaboration between the UK and Jordan.  We can already see that this meeting will lead to productive new opportunities to work together.”

As the UK Ambassador to Jordan, Philip Hall said, “Jordan offers access to MENA markets including the Gulf, Iraq and Syria; free trade agreements with the UK, EU, US, Canada and Arab countries; and an excellent climate, connectivity and infrastructure.  Jordanians are highly skilled, speak English and Arabic and have strong networks across the region.  I’m delighted that Dr Tareq Abughazaleh is in London this week: British companies should take a closer look at Jordan.”
