BEI Weekly Update — 2nd October 2020

Dear Members and Friends,

Next week, as part of the Autumn relaunch of British Expertise International, we will be publishing our new website providing a fresh look but also more functionality for members of British Expertise International. We have listened closely to the views of members and key stakeholders in and out of government over recent months, and the results have informed our events programme, development of working groups and services for members. This short video gives some more detail on why we are changing and how.

Many of you should have yesterday received an invitation to claim your free ticket to our “virtual” British Expertise International Awards scheduled for 21st October. From 3pm attendees can join us for the announcement of winners by our special invitees. Then from 4pm onwards, guests will be able to take full advantage of face to face virtual networking via an intuitive AI-powered matchmaking platform.

Speakers and award presenters include our President His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester, FCDO Minister for Africa James Duddridge, recently appointed ODI Chairman and past President of EBRD Sir Suma Chakrabarti, HM Trade Commissioner for Africa Emma Wade-Smith, HM Trade Commissioner for South Asia Alan Gemmell, HM Trade Commissioner for Latina America Jo Crellin, CEO of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) Philippe Valahu and Chief Executive of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Julie Lilley. You can review sponsorship opportunities here. For all BEI Awards related information and enquiries please contact Alexandra.

Finally; a reminder to members to register your interest to join our Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Diversity & Inclusion working groups by email to Matthew.

Next week…

On 8th October, we’ll be hosting the rescheduled event with Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Europe, Richard Burn — to discuss the current political and economic climate, the opportunities for UK businesses in Europe, and how DIT in the region has dealt with the Covid-19 fallout.

Future Events Highlights…

On 13th October, we are In Conversation with His Excellency Charles Hay, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Malaysia. Following our whistle-stop global tour during our ‘Meet the British Ambassador’ series, BEI will be hosting “Deep Dive” events with a number of UK Heads of Mission and their teams, to further explore some of the key opportunities for UK business in their countries.

On 14th October, we are taking a Deep-Dive into Business Opportunities in Turkey. Over 2000 UK companies are already doing business in Turkey. Supported by effective economic governance and macroeconomic stability, Turkey is seen as one of the most investment-friendly countries in Europe. Join us as we take a closer look at the sector opportunities Turkey offers UK companies wishing to enter this dynamic market.

Remember to join our LinkedIn Group!
We are more active than ever on the BEI LinkedIn Group, where we share insights, highlight upcoming events and showcase our members’ latest achievements, news and thought leadership to the wider audience. Join the group here.

With Best Wishes
Tom
