Our key areas of focus are: Focussed Networking We run a programme of regular meetings and events focussed on the markets and sectors you work in. We receive overseas delegations, often a ministerial level, and organise special events such as those with Government ministers or senior officials. We often set up meetings at short notice with private sector visitors. We can suggest potential partners in sectors complementary to your own, and our website and networking activities deliver opportunities to create valuable links with other member companies. We provide marketing support by featuring your projects on our website and by including your successes as part of our regular corporate communications. We have regular dialogue with procurement specialists and others from the Department for International development, which can and does influence DFID policy, and we are the UK member of the European International Contractors (EIC) whose activities provide excellent additional networking opportunities for members interested in meeting the major European contracting companies. We also run a popular Annual Awards competition to showcase the best British work in our sectors and reward staffs who have done excellent work. The Annual Awards Dinner is an excellent networking event. Missions We lead high profile missions overseas, usually for UK Trade and Investment, targeting specific opportunities for particular markets. These involve a focussed programme of meetings with local officials and businesses, seminars to help you understand the market and the opportunities and workshops to usually be a business reception given by the British Ambassador. Member companies also benefit from post-event review and follow-up. Market Intelligence and Problem Solving We disseminate targeted leads for potential business from all over the world across a whole spectrum of sectors and disciplines. We can provide advice on how best to approach overseas markets and can often provide more detailed help on countries and regions in which we have a current focus. We can also help with debt recovery, finding staff, and with problems encountered in the short listing and selection process for project work. Lobbying We will act robustly on your behalf when requested and when a pattern emerges we will act for a group in seeking a policy change. We can tackle British government agencies funding agencies such as EuropeAid and the World Bank, and foreign governments. Even when our members prefer to pursue matters themselves, we may be able to help through our knowledge of the countries and the agencies.
