Alaknanda HEP is located on the Alaknanda river about 3 km downstream of the Badrinath shrine in the mountainous northern Indian state of Uttaranchal.
Project Description
HALCROW
Alaknanda HEP is located on the Alaknanda river about 3 km downstream of the Badrinath shrine in the mountainous northern Indian state of Uttaranchal.
The project comprises a diversion dam, 3km long headrace tunnel and underground penstock leading to an underground power station of 300 MW capacity.
Halcrow was appointed to prepare the detailed project report, including:
- topographic surveys
- geological site investigations
- hydrological studies
