Project Description
THE MET OFFICE
Recent events leave no doubt that the Caribbean is in urgent need of a reliable early warning system. Every year tropical storms and hurricanes have devastating consequences to already fragile economies from wind damage and severe floods.
The Met Office Royal Haskoning consortium is currently working on a project to manage the construction of a new generation of radars which, when complete, will provide more timely and more accurate information on approaching severe weather, enabling governments, disaster preparedness authorities, economic operators and ordinary citizens to take appropriate action to secure property and reduce the risk of loss of human life.
With this project The Met Office was a finalist in the Small Consultancy (B) category of the British International Expertise Awards 2006.
