Suvarnabhumi Airport is constructed on a 3200 ha site called Nong Ngu Hao (Cobra Swamp) approximately 30 km east of Bangkok.
The airport has two ICAO Code F, CAT II runways and 125 aircraft parking stands.
The overall paved area is 3,000,000m². The passenger terminal is the largest airport terminal in the world with a floor area of 560,000m² and can handle 45 million passengers per annum (mppa) at opening. The Air Traffic Control Tower is with 132.5m the tallest in the world. The ultimate airport capacity will be 110 mppa.
The airport will start commercial operations in September 2006.
