Project Description
Mott MacDonald was Designer for the first major underground civil engineering enterprise undertaken in Delhi, which posed very significant challenges.
The design of the six underground stations and twin running tunnels involved many innovative and pioneering engineering achievements in India in order to take this modern world-class rail link through an almost impenetrable urban area.
A design team of over 100 local engineers was supported by key British expertise. The technological input from the UK has provided a major opportunity for high quality technology transfer and a successful track record from which to continue the design for future metro projects.
For this project, Mott MacDonald were finalists in the British Expertise International Awards 2006,
