Project Description
WYG International is leading an international consortium advising the Algerian Ministry of Transport on the implementation of a comprehensive transport restructuring programme totalling €25 million.
A large part of our work is technical assistance, centring on the development of an integrated national transport plan for Algeria. Improving roads on which an estimated 10 people currently die a day is a primary focus of the project, as is upgrading the country’s rail network. Our wide experience in the reform of public
administration and legislation and our expertise in capacity building have enabled us to set up robust regulatory authorities. In addition, we have developed dynamic tools to enhance the quantitative and qualitative knowledge of Algeria’s transport sector to support policy level decision making. We are piloting activities in the management of harbours, in security aspects of road transportation and in the privatisation of petrol stations, as well as designing and delivering an extensive training programme to be rolled out countrywide during 2010.
