Davis Langdon provided Cost Management and Project Management for the fourth Legoland Park, a themed leisure park built in the vicinity of Günzburg, Bavaria
Project Description
The Park consists of 7 'Clusters' with more than 40 attractions and is built from more than 50 million LEGO bricks. It also comprises surface parking and roads, landscaped areas and water features, restaurants, retail and administrative buildings on a site with an overall area of 65 hectares. 1.2 million guests were expected to visit the Park in its first year.
THE PROJECT
LEGOLAND Parks already exist in Billund (Denmark), Windsor (England), and Carlsbad (California, USA).
They are all a subsidiary of the LEGO Company, a world leader in the manufacture of products and experience games for children and their parents.
Davis Langdon were involved in the selection process of the Construction Manager with whom later the contract documents for the Trade Contractors were prepared.
The Contracts were based on the German VOB. During the construction phase a bilingual Davis Langdon team of Cost Consultants, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers were based on site in Günzburg with support provided from London. Responsibilities covered all services related to cost from Project Controlling, Cost Controlling, and Cost Management to Final Project Reporting as described under the HOAI phases 6 - 9.
